Global Psychedelic Week- Psychedelic Science 2025 In Review

Psychedelic Science 2025 saw between 8,000-10,000 people descend on the Denver Convention Center from June 16-20 for an event dubbed, “The Integration.” For those who attended in 2023, 2025’s edition felt more subdued with less fanfare and carnival-like atmosphere. If the psychedelic community peaked and broke through mainstream consciousness in 2023, then the FDA’s MDMA-therapy rejection in the summer of 2024 could have meant ego death for the psychedelic movement. However, a core group of psychedelic stalwarts marches forward, integrating the historic setback into a more balanced and cogent message…for the world.

Psychedelic Recalibration

As the halcyon days of a psychedelic panacea fade from the rear view mirror, the psychedelic community has recalibrated. Although the FDA’s gut punch may have knocked the wind out, the psychedelic community has stayed resilient and may even be experiencing a stealthy growth phase out of the headlines and media buzz.

No one has a better finger on the pulse of psychedelic culture than Dennis Walker, co-founder of Global Psychedelic Week, and founder of Mycopreneur, a “global hub for mushroom entrepreneurs.” Reflecting on Psychedelic Science 2025, Walker says:

The cultural momentum and gravity spearheaded and underwritten by MAPS and the Psychedelic Science conference have empowered a constellation of diverse stakeholders to connect, cross-pollinate, and thrive at a scale that would be otherwise unimaginable.

With Psychedelic Science 2025 over and an undefined path forward for the psychedelic revival, the Mycopreneur founder sees opportunity, hoping to capitalize on the psychedelic momentum worldwide.

Global Psychedelic Week

Considering the number of passport stamps they collect traveling, it’s no surprise Walker and Milica Radovic Mandic cofounded Global Psychedelic Week. Walker and Mandic cohost the inaugural, online event November 3-9, 2025. Global Psychedelic Week features over 100 speakers and participants representing dozens of countries. Speaking of the event, Walker says:

Global Psychedelic Week aims to build upon the foundations laid by the giants on whose shoulders we stand, going back to indigenous entheogenic traditions from time immemorial on through 21st Century scientific research breakthroughs and beyond into the future. We are connecting the global psychedelic community in unprecedented ways and creating the infrastructure for the next chapter of psychedelics in society.

Walker and Mandic see a unique opportunity to expand the psychedelic community’s depth and breadth by hosting an online event, thus improving access and affordability. As global dissemination of the psychedelic message continues, what will the next chapter of psychedelics in society look like? We already know our current psychedelic chapter looks different compared to yesteryear.

The Next Chapter of Psychedelics in Society- Denim and DMT?

The ebbs and flows of our society’s psychedelic chapters have brought us long and far. From the Victorian era’s absinthe binge punctuated by top hats and parasols, to the 1960s awash in LSD, vintage clothing and tye die. Now in 2025, we sit in cavernous conference rooms eating pizza, talking about psychedelic mushrooms in jeans and t-shirts.

Cue Global Psychedelic Week’s event at Psychedelic Science 2025 dubbed, “Pizza and Psychedelics: Global Ecosystem Perspectives.” The luncheon featured psychedelic community leaders from around the world, as attendees noshed on pizza (sans clandestine toppings). The psychedelic community’s current clothing preferences may not be high fashion. However, denim’s worldwide ubiquity may signal good fortune for psychedelics, as plant medicine gains global traction from distant lands like South Africa.

Pizza and Psychedelics event:

Global Psychedelic Week cofounders, Walker and Mandic cohosted the event. Walker highlighted global, psychedelic culture gains saying:

Our first ever Global Psychedelic Week pizza party popup event sold out and featured psychedelic thought leaders and researchers from 6 continents sharing information and insights that have never before been contributed to an international event. We shared perspectives from the only practitioner licensed to provide psychedelic therapy in East Asia, the first ethnomycologist to academically substantiate the news of ancient psilocybin mushroom traditions in Africa, and the owner of a legal CPG psilocybin mushroom brand in the world's first national legal psilocybin mushroom market among others.

Maybe conference rooms aren’t the best setting for mind-manifesting conversations, but if the global, psychedelic traction taking place is any indication, the 2020s may be the decade of denim and DMT. Keep in mind, Levis are sold in 120 countries, or 61% of countries worldwide. Have psychedelics reached a global resonance point too?

Global Psychedelic Week Finds the Others

Global Psychedelic Week aims to amplify psychedelic acceptance worldwide. Thanks to Psychedelic Science 2025, Global Psychedelic Week cofounder Milica Radovic Mandic sees global, psychedelic resonance growing stating:

This conference felt like a threshold moment for the psychedelic field, a space where science, community, and global perspectives came into meaningful alignment. Amidst the many presentations and after-parties, we hosted a Pizza & Psychedelics gathering that brought together over 70 people from 6 continents. It was a clear reminder that this movement is no longer niche or local. it’s global, intentional, and expanding. As we look ahead to Global Psychedelic Week, my vision is to help cultivate a future rooted in shared leadership, where voices from around the world have a seat at the table.

Having pizza at that seat at the table helps create diversity and solidarity in the psychedelic community. Who doesn’t like pizza? Although pizza for the online event in November will be limited to emojis, expect the same vibes of diversity, solidarity and democratization that ran through Psychedelic Science 2025.

Will a Psychedelic Entourage Effect Convert More People?

If psychedelics are a technology, then the people attending Psychedelic Science 2025 might consider themselves the innovators and early adopters. These dedicated innovators and early adopters have zeal and are courageous for stepping outside society’s guardrails. Don’t underestimate this group’s potential to persuade an early majority in support of psychedelics, locally, nationally, and globally.

If one message stands out about the rest for Psychedelic Science 2025, it’s the Margaret Mead quote:

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has.

Will the zeal, dedication, courage and diversity of this small group create an entourage effect to convert more psychedelic allies and supporters in coming years? While Psychedelic Science 2027 may hold the definitive answer, Global Psychedelic Week may offer a glimpse of a new future being born that takes us on a trip around the world.
